International Zing Burgers is committed to providing real food for real people. But we want to tell you the reason for carrying a healthy diet for your mental and physical wellbeing.

With a new year upon us, it is time to reflect, be grateful and set some good intentions for the road ahead. While many of us our main motivation is to eat healthier is to lose weight. Is this alone enough to motivate us to stick to it? Probably not, considering that only 8% of people stick to their New Year’s resolution.

Eating healthy is about so much more than looking good in those skinny jeans. Then we truly understand what a profound impact the food we eat can have on every aspect of our lives, we are much more likely to stick to healthy eating habits beyond the mere fact of “look great”.

What a year it was 2020, wasn’t it? And after (and still) the world COVID-19 pandemic, many governmental institutions tend to offer ongoing support to their citizens and providing recommendations for healthy eating as the Australian Government has shown. Because, at the end of the day what we eat can have a huge impact on our mental health. According to Black Dog Institute, the numbers are devastating: one in five Australians aged 16-85 experience illness, such as anxiety and substance use disorder, in any year.

Eating high amounts of sugar and processed food has been linked to an increased risk of depression. On the other hand, eating whole foods like sweet potatoes, spinach, berries and avocados will lower inflammation in the body and help raise serotonin levels to fight symptoms of depression and keep you feeling healthy and happy.
